Having Your Automobile Give Better Performance- Consider These Four

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Developing of an effective modem of transport is what gave way to the making of the automobile. But demands for luxury and sporting have spun the needs to a whole new level. If you own a car, then you know that upgrades go without saying right? But there are four parts that you need to first consider first when giving your automobile a performance make-over. These four will give you better results than the other many that will meagerly change the output. These include headers, throttle body, exhaust and the cold air intake system.

If you want to enhance your vehicle’s performance, you should consider upgrading your air intake system. It is not a very complicated thing to do. Air intake systems are freely available in any aftermarket shop and it is not very expensive, and can be installed very easily. BBK Performance makes a good BBK cold air intake. Basically enhancing the performance of any vehicle involves getting more air into the engine to burn fuel faster, so the quicker the air moves in and out of the engine, the better the output of the engine is, in terms of horsepower, mileage etc. BBK cold air intake achieves just that. There are three types of air intake systems, open element intake systems, sealed intake systems and ram intake systems. All three work very well in getting cool air where it is required efficiently.

Here is what you need to know of an air intake system. There is the filter the throttle body and the mass flow sensor. In some of the recently manufactured cars there are silencers that reduce the noise of the engines. But looking at the speed factor of the car, silencers are not good since they block the oxygen which is essential in building up the speed. The process of the air circulating through to the combustion chamber is aided by tubing cut. Sometimes the air system effectiveness is something that most drivers want to see in their cars and car-makers are now taking the initiative of including bigger filters and throttle bodies.

So what causes the demand? They increase the amount of air that can pass into the engine. This means that more will be available for the process of combustion and the final result is increased power. The rule is the less the energy used to get air into the engine, the more the horsepower output will be.

The exhaust is a collection or branch of pipes that take the burnt gas away from the internal combustion engines, so it collects the exhaust gases from multiple places into one main pipe that vents the gas out of the vehicle. A header is another name for this system. Now often factory made vehicles do not have the best design needed for the performance you need due to space and weight restrictions. What one basically needs is a BBK header system that is perfectly tuned with pipe lengths carefully attuned to the rpm range of your engine. BBK headers will increase performance and sre suitable for your engine. BBK Headers are collection of individual exhaust head pipes that get fixed to each cylinder, which then converge into a single tube called a collector.

The BBK headers allow room for more air but that alone will not produce the best results. That is why a BBK throttle body should be a part of the equation because it primarily aids in gas economy and horsepower increase. It helps in the process of mixing oxygen and fuel to yield power. It allows room for air passage which is then able to reach the engine more quickly. This way the engine can concentrate more in producing power which translates to better speeds.

Electric Car Manufacturers Receive $8 Billion Loan

Monday, June 29th, 2009

The Energy department of the US government have given Ford, Nissan and Tesla a total sum of $8 billion. This money is going to be used to create new jobs while developing fuel efficient cars for the future.
The money is simply a low interest loan which the US has given out to help increase jobs in the car industry, aswell as developing greener cars in the process.
The money is being split into different sums. Ford has been given the majority of the loan, $5.9 billion. This money is going to be spent developing new technology for gasoline powered cars, aswell as developing new ranges of electric cars.
This money is very good for Ford because of the very low interest rate of 3.75%. If they had attempted to get this money on the market, they would have had to pay interest rates in the double figures.
As for Nissan, they are getting the second biggest chunk of the cash, $1.6 billion. They said that this money will be spent on a plant they have that is making lithium ion batteries. The new batteries developed will be going into a new electric car in development for 2012.
Finally Tesla, they are only getting a small sum comapred to the likes of Ford. Only $465 million is going to them in loans. A large lump of the money will be used to develop a new factory to create their new Model S Sedan. The other chunk of their loan will be going to make new car parts for other manufacturers.
Hopefully, with this loan given to the car makers, we will see some new fuel efficient cars being developed for the market. It would save even more money for leasers if you could choose an electric car. I imagine a huge number of people with a Ford Lease or Nissan Lease would love to have an electric car as this would save them even more money.

Why Its Dangerous To Buy A Used Motorbike Helmets

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

A motorbike helmets is one of those essentials that would help save your life should you involve in an accident whilst riding your motorcycle. This will keep your head from a injurious and even likely fatal head injury. Motorcycle helmets are so important that state lawmakers have even included a order in the state laws that orders all persons riding the motorbike to wear helmets.

Some persons though do not recognize the worth of this accessory. In reality, some folks do not even like putting it on for the reason that it is too heavy and too suffocating. Others find it a killjoy to not be capable to feel the wind on their faces when riding a bike.

Motorbike helmets are not really that costly but they are also not inexpensive. Certain folks who are not that up to date could perhaps preserve all their money for the motorbike leaving a really small funds for safety gears such as the helmet. Some yet purchase used discount motorcycle helmets instead of new ones. This, however, is one practice that should not be supported.

Wearing used helmets is extremely dangerous and not practical. Old cheap motorcycle helmets are really of no value and what is more you would not be able to actually discover whether they are damaged or not. You won?t even be capable to identify if they are fairly new ones or not. This is for the reason that the helmet is created from a hard outer shell that envelops a layer of expanded polystyrene. You will never be able to know if the expanded polystyrene is already compressed or not except you cut the outer shell. An already compressed polystyrene layer would not safeguard you from an accident.

An additional thing that you should be concerned about is the fact that polystyrene becomes weak as it ages. This is the reason why old helmets must be exchanged for new ones in a couple of years as it may not be able to absorb much of the effect when an accident does happen. The polystyrene layer is as well easily damaged by the sun and by chemicals such as gas vapors.

Motor bikers who always place their helmet near the gas tank will also unknowingly destroy the inside layer of the helmet. It is also not a nice idea to always allow the helmet sit in the heat of the sun. If you could, strive to park your bike in areas that are shaded. Pointed objects may in addition compromise the lifetime of the helmet by piercing through the polystyrene layer inside.

Disregard Those Magnetic Fuel Saving Devices-Find Out What Really Works

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

From the operators of www.iBuyLessGas.com–dedicated to improving Gas Mileage with Ecomates Ethos FR+ Gas Saver.

Magnets are quite interesting because they have the ability to attract and repel due to the energy they create. We can all probably remember science experiments in school that dealt with magnets. They were actually very entertaining to play with and to see what they could do.

Magnets of all different sizes are used in our society for a variety of things. We use them to keep things on the refrigerator, to search for items, and to operate various types of devices. Many people view magnets as something scientific though so they assume it may be logical to try using them to save money when it comes to fuel costs.

Many consumers like this idea because they are not adding anything to their vehicle in the form of a liquid which often makes them worried. The magnets can be added or removed any time you want. They like the thought of being able to get results without the risk of ruining some part of their engine.

There is also the fact that you don?t have to remember to purchase them all the time. With additives you need to get a good supply of them and then remember to use them at the correct times. With the magnets you can simply put them on once and then not worry about it again.

Magnets that are offered for reducing the amount of gas that your car uses will cost you between $15 and $40 so that isn?t too much of an overall investment. They can improve your gas mileage ever so slightly but not enough that you will get any true savings out of it. We are talking 10th of a gallon when it comes to measuring the benefits.

These magnets are secured to the fuel line and are thought to change the molecular structure of the gasoline. As a result the types of metals that are used to ionize the fuel will no longer be there. This may all sound good in theory but the reality is that it doesn?t do anything for your gas mileage that is significant enough for you to save any money.

Magnetic gas saving products often have the biggest claims when it comes to how much gas you can save. Many of them boost about a savings of 20% -25% but the testing on such products hasn?t shown hardly any benefit at all, let alone something that substantial.

There is a popular TV show called MythBusters where they take certain products and test them out to see what the results are. They did a show about the use of magnets to increase fuel mileage a while back. You can see parts of it on their website if you missed it.

Several different brands of magnets advertised for saving gas were tried out but the results were comparable with all of the ones they tried. They were able to control the variables and tried the use of the magnets under a variety of different conditions.

They didn?t find them to be tricky to put on the vehicle or to remove. They also didn?t find them to offer any significant benefit in the area of gas mileage from them. So the best bet is to skip these types of gas saving devices and use your money for something else.

Why not try what has been proven to work? Ethos FR+ is a fuel additive that reformulates the gas in your tank, causing it to burn more completely. The result is a gain in fuel economy of 7-19%, while harmful emissions are reduced by 30% or more. Visit www.iBuyLessGas.com for more information or to purchase Ethos products online.

New Info About Hybrid Car And Got More Tricks About It.

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

The Hybrid Cars are in town and have become the talk of town. There are many staunch supporters of the Hybrid Car who are rooting for it whilst the conventional car sales continue without so much as a slight dent. But the dent is growing with Hybrid cars taking up about 3 to 4 percent share of the total car market. Hybrid cars sport sleek and futuristic looks, but these cars aren’t just for show. These scientific marvels make use of both electric and gas power to make for a cleaner, more cost efficient, and environmentally friendlier car.

Conventional Cars are Cheaper than Hybrid Cars. But Not over the long term.Hybrid cars with their beautifully designed aerodynamic shell and their complex technology do command a valid heftier price tag. But this is not so over time. There are tax incentives and the tax rebates are awarded to hybrid cars owners over a period of a few years. This gives a net reduction in the total cost of owning and maintaining a hybrid car. A check and a few phone calls revealed that the pricing for the most popular Hybrid Car model, the Toyota Prius is between USD19000 to USD23000, at least about USD5000 more affordable than the all time gasoline guzzling Ford Taurus.

The obvious advantage of using hybrid cars is that it saves gas. Combining the cleaner energy of an electric motor with the long range capacity of a gasoline engine allows a hybrid car to save as much as 30 miles a gallon. One feature of hybrid cars is that the gasoline engine is shut off automatically when the car stops. Hybrid cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars due to less gasoline being burned. It is environmentally friendly, causes less pollution and releases less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If you do not know, carbon dioxide is one of the primary reasons for rising global warming.
Due to world political pressures around the world to reduce greenhouse emissions, President Bush signed an agreement in 2005 to provide huge tax relief to hybrid car buyers.

First, how fuel efficient the hybrid car is compared to a conventional car in 2002 with the same weight class. And second, how much gasoline the hybrid car can save in its lifetime compared with an equivalent conventional car.

Buying a hybrid car will inevitably cost more than a regular one. However, the money that is saved from the lower fuel consumption, along with the tax deductions will eventually make up for the extra cost of a hybrid. Those who drive frequently will be the ones that benefit most from this. With all the of the benefits that hybrid cars give, it’s no wonder that they’re so quickly gaining in popularity.

Discover Useful Advice About Breaking A Toyota Lease

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Relocating overseas, getting downsized , or running into financial difficulty are just of few reasons why someone might consider terminating a Toyota lease. However there may be some financial consequences depending on the fine print of the lease agreement and how you go about it.

Buyers, or signers on a lease, frequently think that leasing a car is a lot like renting a car , but, they are two entirely different situations. Renting is always for a short period of time and requires no additional obligations other then paying the rental fee and returning the vehicle by the agreed upon date and time.

Leasing on the other hand is for an extended period of time typically two or three years. With leasing there’s a legal contract to make the lease payments for the life of the lease. When it comes to breaking a car lease there are generally some rigid penalties in the fine print of the lease agreement.

Understandably [spin] it isn’t in the purchaser’s best interest to go with either of those options if the buyer isn’t going to use the car.

There is an [spin] affordable option for breaking a car lease that many people are not aware of. That option is to transfer the lease to someone else. There are several ways to do this. First you need to check if your lease agreement restricts transfers. If the agreement doesn’t mention anything against transfers then you’re set to go.

The first step is to find someone who is looking for a similar automobile and would be willing to take over your lease. This can be achieved fairly quickly by using a company that specializes in trading leases.

The lease trading company will charge a nominal fee and there could be other costs involved from your bank or the leasing company but these costs together would be significantly less than the penalty you would end up paying if you were to break the Toyota lease.

Saving Energy ? How You Can Go Green And Help To Save The Ecosystem

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

From the operators of www.iBuyLessGas.com–dedicated to improving Fuel Economy with Ecomates Ethos FR Fuel Saver.

As the expense of living continues to climb, energy reports and broadcasts are packed with energy saving tips and suggestions. Some energy saving tips involve initial investments, some just solicit a change of lifestyle. The best energy saving tips are those that require almost nothing but changing a custom. This one is about the wise energy saving choices.

1.Limit, as much as possible, the use of water. Of course water is not that costly (at least for now); but saving water saves energy. When cleaning the driveway, the deck or patio, using the broom instead of the hose would save several hundreds of gallons of water a year.

2.A push lawn mower is a good idea for mowing a small lawn. Aside from not using electricity or fuel to ride the mowing machine, it is also good exercise.

3.Rakes are good leaf movers. Like the push mower, you do not need energy to fuel up a machine to get the job done. There is also a sense of nostalgia in using this traditional tool.

4.Use compact fluorescent light bulbs to light your driveway or as a security light. CFLs are one of the most handy and energy efficient products that you can have. If you are nervous about bugs sticking to the light, there are yellow CFLs that are available.

5.When shopping, keep away from going for the throwaway items. Disposable products need more landfills and landfills emit dangerous gasses. Go instead for items that could be used several times over. Again when shopping, go for products that are made of better quality. They might be a little more costly but generally, quality products last longer.

6.Bring your own bags when shopping. Paper bags are made from trees; the environment can use more of them. Plastic bags on the contrary are oil based and are not biodegradable. If you bring your bag with you, you do not only aid in saving energy, you could also get a discount from your store.

7.Batteries contain toxic materials. They produce heavy metal like zinc, zinc, arsenic, cadmium, mercury etc. Thus, disposal needs appropriate care. Once the heavy metal in batteries seeped into the ground it has a good chance of contaminating the ground. When buying products that would need batteries, pick those that are rechargeable. That way battery disposal is limited and you save on the cost of buying new batteries.

8.Good thing that SUV sales everywhere are going down (well, at least for the environment and not for car manufacturers). SUVs use much more energy than compact sedans for the same distance. While using SUV’s could be fun, there is also that tinge of apathy to the current energy issues and environmental problems we are facing. Reducing the use of SUVs on the street may not mean much in terms greenhouse gas emissions but is a signal to manufacturers to build more energy efficient vehicles.

9.The use of solar power is an excellent idea if you want to tackle the issues of energy conservation and environment protection. If there is one thing that the world needs most at this time, it is the widespread use of solar power.

10.Energy saving devices may cost a little extra but the pays offs are much more than the extra cost in terms longer life spans and energy saved.

How To Correctly Prepare Your Automobile Before Paint Spraying

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

How to properly rub down your automobile before spray painting
Preparing your car for paint spraying is no quick task so make sure you have the correct rigging for the job and enough information. 90 percent of spraying a automobile is preparation it is a long task but it must be done and done correctly there can be no shiny surfaces on where you?re going to paint before you start painting, if you use too rough a grade of sand paper this will be seen through the paint, too smooth a grade of sand paper and it will take a very long time to rub down correctly.

Please remember to wear the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) before beginning.

There are many this sytem s in here that can also apply for using oil based paint around the home
Preparation is key
1. Wash the automobile down with water or water and degreaser mix remembering to wash out the door checks and all the gaps in the areas you are going to be spraying in.
2. Blow the vehicle dry with pressurized air including all the gaps, this will get rid of any loose dirt from around the automobile
3. Rub the automobile down with wet and dry sandpaper grit 240-400. Use the sandpaper wet and with lukewarm water and rub down only in the places where you will apply the primer i.e. bare metal, filler or where stone chips were. Use wet and dry sandpaper grit 800-1000 in the places you?re not priming in as you will go further than you expected to go ( If the vehicle paint work isn?t too bad and not down to the bare metal there?s no need to apply a primer use wet and dry sandpaper grit 800-1000 )
4. The finish that you will be looking for is a smooth not shiny surface, this is be achieved by a rubber sanding block, if you are using your hand to rub down keep your hand as flat as possible and do not spread your fingers as this will be seen through the paint in the form of high and low spots.
5. Once you have finished one area wash it off with clean water, I use personally use a cellulose sponge and a chamois then a microfiber cloth. Blow the automobile off again then use white spirit and two clean new rags one in each hand and one with white spirit on it and the other one dry and in a motion of the karate kid wax on wax off.
6. Masking up the automobile use masking paper and masking tape try and buy a slightly better quality masking tape as paint and primer will not run under it and it comes off the roll easier. Masking up the vehicle for primer is rather simple because it does not have to be perfect, just cover the areas that primer over spay will go and blow off the automobile one final time but reduce your pressure on the regulator or you will blow masking paper off just a gentle breeze, and use tack rag but don?t press hard very, very lightly because paint doesn?t stick to wax.
7. Apply the primer to the areas necessary. Spray painting with paint is similar to priming, the this practice is the same but primer is a thicker use a lager nozzle and needle about a 2.0 if you have one .I tend to turn the pressure up a little bit and build up the coats going further and further out each time, give it at least 3 good coats, primer is heaver and less likely to run anyhow the primer gets rubbed down again, so this is a good time to practice on your this procedure.
8. If you don?t know how far to rub down the primer use a little spray paint from a spray can, any colour as long as you can see it against the primer (very light coat just a speckled pattern) Rub the car down with wet and dry sandpaper grit 800-1000 and if you used a little spray paint rub it down until only the primer is left. (If the primer is covering body filler then I always use a very, very light coat of spray paint) Use the sandpaper wet and with hot water. Using the sand paper wet reduces dust and lubricates between the paint and the paper, there are products for dry sanding but I?ve never really taken to them.
9. Clean the vehicle off with clean water, cellulose sponge and a chamois then a microfiber cloth. Blow the automobile off again spend a good length of time on this water and paint don?t always mix then use white spirit as before do not let the white spirit dry in itself make sure you dry it off with a new clean dry rag.
10. Mask the vehicle up using the masking tape first thing is to take your time doing this and think about where the paint will go if you don?t cover it well enough, pull down or take out any rubber seals or as many parts as possible. If you can get your hands on foam masking use this around the inside door frames as this will feather the edges out better. Use sellotape for any coach lines/go faster stripes as this reduces the paint high end edge. Ask for a friend to help with the masking paper if you?re struggling, and make sure there is no paper flapping about it should be stuck down tight pretty obvious really but I?ve seen countless times where paper is flapping about. Cover the full engine with paper (unless you have taken it out) lots of dirt can fly out of there no problem and no chance of over spray either. Make sure you cover the wheels and tyres as well.
11. Wet the floors and walls where possible (not the ceiling or the automobile) and don?t have big puddles either, sweep up any puddles if there are some, this process can be done before or after the masking up period.
12. Finally before you start spraying use the white spirit this method twice and then the tack rag this method with a little gently air this will eradicate a lot of dust particles.

Why we rub down- we rub down to form a key or a surface for the paint to stick to if we didn?t the paint will most likely flake off.
Why we use white spirit-we use white spirit to eradicate oil and grease some of this comes from our oily skin.

Why we blow the automobileoff- we blow the car off with high pressure air loosen any dirt that may come back when painting and to get rid of any trapped water around the automobile. The compressor must be drained at least once a day or water traps installed in the pipe work.

Make sure you have the correct painting spray gun before you start to paint and it does help if there is a micro air regulator on the spray gun as well.
Please remember that this system is not set in stone and there are other various ways of doing things this is a good this practice thou and has always worked for me and I have been working as an apprentice spray painter since 1991 and finished my apprenticeship 1995 and the rest is history.

I hope that this article has helped you and good luck.
