More people than ever are choosing to lease vans, both privately and commercially. Lots of people cannot offered to buy a van in the recession and so many are now going for the less-commitment choice. Unfortunatetly, with the growing popularity, so there has been an increase in leasing companies charging customers for damage to the vans that already existed. The obvious way to avoid this to give the van a good going over first, but which are the vital things to look out for?
Body work. Have a good look around the body work both inside and out before van leasing. You?re looking for dents, scratches, holes, rust etc. Just all damage that the owner could accuse you of causing when you bring it back. Anything that you come across should be noted down an photographed from all angles.
Suspension. It can cost an arm and a leg to put faulty suspension right so make sure its not broken to start with. Pull down on each rear corner of the van in tern to engage the suspension. The rocking should cause the van to move around smoothly but without excessive noise. If you notice any loud noises or the movement does not feel fluid, get the leasing company to take a look at it priory to paying for it. You should also do the same for the front suspension and test it extensively if you are Citroen van leasing as these vans often use hydraulic suspension which is even more expensive to put right
Engine. If you don?t know much about motors it is difficult to know what you are looking for. First start the engine up, let it run for a while, then gradually increase the revs. What you don’t want to hear is a struggling engine that is unresponsive or create large amount of smoke from the exhaust or worse still the engine itself. If in any doubt take someone along who knows a bit or go for Ford van leasing as these vans are the most reliable.
